Portrait - Marilyn Monroe
Step 06
Red is now used to begin colorizing the up-til-now monochrome painting. You may wish to thin the paint's intensity with water or colorless extender before spraying. It's easy to go too far in an instant with red because of the pigment's intensity.
Follow the original photo! Red is needed heavier in certain areas than in others. Keep in mind other colors that will be used on top of this step. An area that is orangy can be lightly colored with red now, and a touch of yellow later to eliminate the need to actually use orange paint, although you will run across situations where it is impossible to get the correct color with this method.
The background is simply filled with a fade, darker at the top and lighter at bottom.
