| Portrait - Marilyn Monroe |
Step 07
|
Yellow is now used, in varying intensities, over the whole piece. The background needed to be a little more toward orange, the hair (blonde) needed that touch of yellow, the fleshtones needed to be adjusted to get rid of the 'sunburned' look, even the collar of the dress needed a touch of color.
Please notice that even though the dress's collar is white, I have a touch of all these colors on it at this stage. Have you ever had someone ask you to paint something in black on a black background? Close your eyes - that's what it will look like! In order for something to show up, it needs to have contrast of one type or another. For the detail of the white collar to show up, we need to have a touch of color, even a slight one, for the white to have something to contrast with.
